Everyone’s been commenting on how Victoria Beckham’s eyes are looking more panda than smoky these days. In fact, she appears to bear a closer resemblance to the rest of us mortals more so than ever before. Surely it’s not legal or human to be perfect all the time.
Now before you start thinking that she’s letting herself go, take a squizz at what her week was like.
Two days after the launch of her Autumn / Winter 2012 Collection at NYFW, on 13 February she was spotted at New York Grand Central Subway station alongside Anna Wintour and a host of British fashion designers like Hamish Bowles, Marcus Wainwright, Karen Elson, Keren Craig, Georgina Chapman, Tamara Mellon, Jourdan Dunn and David Neville in front of a Union Jack-wrapped subway car.
No, they weren’t exactly there to catch a train but to promote Britain’s GREAT campaign spearedheaded by Victoria. Among others, her role as campaign ambassador will be to appear in a short film titled ‘Fashion is Great’. With last year’s Royal Wedding between Kate & Prince William, this year’s London-based Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the UK has capitalised on an opportunity to promote the country as a cultural and tourist destination.
Wearing a monochromatic look from her new collection and those posture-defining Louboutins, I have to admit the lady does look a bit weary but compared to my working week, I think she’s allowed.
Over the past seven days I’ve pulled a few 9-to-5ers and pushed a trolley around the Pick ‘n Pay. I’ve extended my eyelashes and attempted to reduce my weight. I’ve leaned eagerly with knife and fork in hand over a birthday lunch, a girls’ nite out, a family braai and four home-cooked meals. Five loads of laundry entered and existed the washing machine over an equal amount of days with downtime presenting itself in the form of the highly anticipated Downton Abbey. I’ve cancelled a manicure and dinner with Janet but definitely not my weekend plans.
All this a mere walk in the park in comparison to Victoria who, not content with just dinner and a ball game,
hopped across the pond to launch another clothing line Victoria at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London to kick-off London Fashion Week 2012. Her latest collection is cute and frivolous without losing her signature definitive simplicity. I like very much.
All this is five days. Sjoe! I’m in awe. Happy vitamin-popping, everyone:-)
