This is how you kick-off an online shopping site. (1) Find the hottest night spot in Cape Town. (2) Invite the coolest celebs and bloggers. (3) Offer amazing! cocktails, dee-licious canapés and 50% off an online purchase.
Zando.co.za did that last week at the Orphanage Club in the city centre. All the beautiful (and famous) fashionistas of Cape Town came out to celebrate the launch of an online shopping haven which has rocketed to being the largest in Africa since it’s inception in January this year. And of course we were there.
My jacket’s by Mango and the studded clutch is from Asos. I loved Karisa‘s sexy black shorts and peter-pan collared blouse. Leigh worked her trendy animal print with red lips and nails. So, let’s see who else is here.
Loved Elrico’s trendy tweed, cotton and denim. (dude, you’re clearly working out, supreme!) Our jaws dropped when we found out Ritza’s pussy-bow blouse was from Mr P. I know!
Also bumped into the fabulous Sammy Guinness. Her gorgeous white jacket is vintage. From London. Argh! I want one as well! *drool*
Now onto the celeb studded guest list. Local footballer and model Ryan Botha and the ever-elegant Jo-Anne Strauss are the faces of Zando. Sadly I didn’t get a pic of her:-( but I scored one with Ryan and e-TV bubbly personality, Tanya Nefdt. He wore a black wool double-breast military jacket; she stunned in a printed shirt dress from Zara. Wanna hear a cringe story? I so didn’t remember meeting Ryan before. Seriously Clouds, who doesn’t remember champagne o’clock with a hottie? Fortunately, he was a real gentleman about my memory lapse and agreed on a pic with me for (apparently) the second time. Will deffo remember him next time.
Dom Peters, the other half of SA’s coolest band Goldfish also rocked leather. He’s seen here with Eugen Petersen; Zando co-founder and MD. Eugen believes that technology and trends go hand in hand so online shopping has secured its place in the world of fashion. If your product isn’t online, it will not survive.
I spoke with lingerie, sleepwear and swinsuit buyer, Amanda. Living in London for 15 years, she owned 150 bikinis. Yes. 150! In London! And she promised she’d be buying top trends; none of that last season stuff South Africans are constantly subjected to. With peeps like Eugen, Amanda and fashion editor Megan Pascall at the helm,I think we’ll be in good hands.
Megan wore my fave look of the eve; black skirt and a chiffon blouse with a sequined collar and cuffs.
Right now, Zando offers Men’s and Women’s fashion, Beauty, Homeware and Premium Brands; with Sport and Kids waiting in the wings. So shop til you drop from the comfort of your own home. They guarantee free delivery in South Africa within 48 house – and if you’re unsatisfied with your purchase, the return policy is equally impressive. Just hand the goods back to your personal driver waiting outside.
But back to the party and the killer cocktails I told you about. This one is called ‘More Tea, Vicar?’
A few of those and we were embarrassingly flashing our Wings Group goodie bags on the street like we’d never gotten any before. *cringe* Thank you to Leozette from Red Carpet Concepts and the incredible team at Zando.co.za for an amazing evening. I will be putting your promises and discount gift voucher to the test. Happy Shopping.
love & light
