If ever an event defined a brand to perfection; the O Magazine Summer Tea Party is it!
This renowned celebration of life, beauty and fabulous women was held at The Range in Tokai last week. Basically slapbang in the middle of the picturesque Southern Suburbs winelands. I know. I know.
Event managers take note; this is how it’s done.
Magazine devotees and loyal readers got to don pretty frocks and hats for what turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Bakers, Five Roses, Sasko, Two Oceans wine and JC le Roux ensured we were treated like ‘awfully posh’ ladies who lunch. Tables groaned under the weight of every sweet and savory treat known to man.
And then the food! which I’m proud to say, I resisted as well. That dress, you see.
All so exciting, I’m getting ahead of myself. Allow me to introduce out hosts for the day; that doyenne of style and elegance, Chairman of Associated Media Jane Raphaely and O Mag editor Samantha Page who looked resplendent in gold KlukCGDT.
I also got tot meet Rado Regional Sales manager, Hans-Ruedi Marti (what a sweet guy) and Lesley Gikas and Chantelle Boucher from Refresh PR ie, the ladies who keep supplying me Two Oceans Quay 5 wine which I never write about. Ohh eh eh, that’s another story completely.
Tanya Nefdt from eTV brought her crazy personality along as well. Always good seeing her. She was accompanied by DJ Suga from 104.5Fm who I have to say is absolutely divine.
Said Samantha Page of the event; “Every year, I love welcoming our readers to our Tea Parties. It’s an opportunity to connect, have fun, dress up and take the afternoon off to celebrate and live our best life journey, beautiful venues around the country. I raise my tea cup to that.”
I do too! Everyone looked absolutely amazing.
After welcome drinks and a bit of a schmingle, we sat down to tuck in. All was pretty reserved until the hotness which is Chad Saaiman, Lloyd Jansen and Keeno Lee from The Black Ties hit the stage. The ladies went wild! No surprise as who could resist such snapper dressers with seductive crooning voices. Of course I grabbed a pic afterward. They’re awesome!
Before leaving, I perched at the Lancome counter for a little lippie treat. According the ladies of beauty, there’s a red for every skin tone. It took some getting used to as I haven’t worn a red lip ever so chose not to take a pic. But let me say this; I’ve since bought one which I wore to Shimmy on Friday evening. Wow! Never felt sexier. If you haven’t tried a red lip yet, go for a consultation and buy one. That’s all I’m saying.
I’ve always wanted to appear on Oprah’s “What I love show”. You know the one where she features her 10 best awesome finds and the audience gets to walk away with one of each. Well, the O mag Summer Tea Party is as close as damn.
Jaco-louis confirmed that tickets for these parties sell like the proverbial hot cakes. I recommend you get in there next year. You could walk away a winner like two lucky ladies who won a Rado watch and ZAR 7000 Lancome gift hamper, respectively.
I didn’t feel too bad. The goodie bag which each of the 250 guests received weighed a ton! Oprah would be proud.
But at the end of the day, charity emerged the winner as each guest was asked to donate a book for a community school library. I wished they’d all remembered as I expected to see more; but hey, there’s always next year.
The O mag Summer Tea Party events, held in Jo’burg, Durban, PE and Cape Town, are announced in the February issue which goes on sale around the 14 of January. Circle this in your diary now.
And if you’re still not enticed by all these goodies, try this one on for size. A ticket to the tea party includes a six month subscription to O mag. Uh huh! is what I’m sayin’.
Bongani, JL and all at O Magazine SA, thank you for the most incredible afternoon.
love & light
PS: May I please pre-book my seat for the next one, now already.
